- First Maiden gig with Bruce Dickinson as vocalist - This capture comes from a VHS I got in a trade in the late 80s. _ In my opinion this is an upgrade over the 2 other DVDs I have seen in circulation for the following reasons: V1 is sourced from a lossy MPG file that I captured in May 2002 and traded a few times in those years. I still have that MPG on my HD. I can easily recognize that it is my old version because of the continuous noises noticeable in the video (like flashes or color changes that are repeated every few seconds). I captured that version using my PC equipped with an ATI Radeon ViVo and those disturbances were a well known bug in the PAL drivers of that video card. As far as I know they never fixed it. The blocky artifacts in V1 indicate it comes from a lossy source and also the fact that it is NTSC instead of the original PAL means it's been re-enconded which brings further quality degradation. A couple of seconds of Purgatory were missing in my old capture and for some reason also a part of Murders In The Rue Morgue is cut in V1. So to summarize: V1 comes from the same VHS source as this new version but it's lossy, re-encoded, has lots of noise issues and cuts.
V2 ("Paul Who ?" by Phantom Creations) contains 2 different captures: - the first one is very grainy and definitely not good quality - the second version is quite similar to this one but more grainy. It probably comes from a VHS with few more generations than mine. Both versions in V2 have been been re-encoded to NTSC from the original PAL format Compared to this new version both are missing a few seconds at the beginning of Purgatory but they have about 4 seconds more at the end of Murders In The Rue Morgue. - My version is a bit dark but working on brightness and contrast settings of your TV/monitor you can find the setup that works better for you. - The picture in the main menu was taken backstage at the actual concert in Bologna.
